As someone who lives with maturity-onset diabetes, Peter understands that education is critical to managing the state.

"It's a grotesque fact that throughout diabetes week-over 30,000 people worldwide may have a lower limb amputation because of their diabetes. This means one every twenty seconds. Equally surprising is the fact that 85% of cases might be avoided.

A person having a foot ulcer has an 80% likelihood of not living five years, in comparison with 40% and 18% respectively to get an individual who has prostate or breast cancer.

"Diabetes could be exceptionally hard to stay with should you don't possess the right advice and strategies in place.

"The variety of those who live with the state but are not aware of the effect it may have on their feet is incredible. Diabetes can play havoc with your toes until you manage it attentively."

Philip is the author of Undefeeted by Diabetes, the publication focuses on supporting individuals with diabetes stay in what Philip calls the' nice spot' - the safest possible place for them. The 'sweet spot' relates to a mixture of awareness and wisdom in their personal risk and taking proper activity that assists them to stay healthy and full lives.

The book is aimed at people that have diabetes, those at danger of creating diabetes, their family, friends and carers.

Group Podiatry, Chris Allton's practice, is rolling out a new free program which includes a helpful area which helps train people about diabetes.
